Omar tries to help fix a broken piece of a heater inside the Jesse Epstein Building in Yesler Terrace, Seattle, as he helps Gurey clean up after a weekend tutoring session. After tutoring, Omar and Gurey stay to sweep the floors, rearrange tables and put away any games or materials left by the children in the program.


On Thursday and Friday evenings and on Saturday and Sunday mornings, Omar volunteers to help his father, tutoring “mostly the little kids—around 2nd grade to 5th grade. I help them with their homework and anything else they need help with.”
